Rollercoaster
So the week started with great news! We got a referral. She is 4 weeks old, beautiful, and according to our adoption pediatrician in good health. No sooner did we formally accept the referral, did our agency call to inform us the birth mother changed her mind. Needless to say it was a rough few days. We had pictures and a video of this beautiful girl and had to come to terms with the fact that that is all we would ever have. She was never really ours and the bottom line, after many tears, is she is hopefully where she truly belongs, with her mother.
Less than 24hrs later we received a call that another baby was available! With cautious excitement we found out that she was born on Aug. 6th, making her only six days old today. We are hoping to speak with our pediatrician tomorrow to get a green light as to her health. She is a tiny (4lbs 8oz) beautiful cutie with a ton of hair!
There are still no guarantees. Having felt the recent loss, we are trying to temper our excitement with the realities of this whole process. That being said, we are falling in love with this tiny little miracle.
This is our roller coaster for now. Pictures will be forthcoming when we get more info!!
