Conversación con la foster mom...

The foster mom gave us a call the other night out of the blue to say hi. We got some info about her family, so we can get a few gifts for them when we go down there. She told us that our little girl is actually her last foster baby. Guatemala is transitioning to a different system, and will probably use orphanages in the future. So, needless to say she is sad. Ava will be the one she remembers most. Not only does she care about these babies, but in a very poor country this was a nice way for her to earn money for her own family. We are so grateful for all that she has done for Ava. We just wish there was something we could do for her and her family.

She said Ava's doing really good, smiling alot and sitting up by herself...and she now weighs 14 lbs.

So, hopefully the DNA results will be on the way back to Guatemala early next week...and then we'll be waiting for the Embassy to contact us.

Today was Ava's first visit to the Zoo. She loved it! A lot of arm waiving and leg kicking. Not a ton of smiles, because she was probably overwhelmed. We could tell she really enjoyed it though, we can only imagine what goes through the mind of a ten month old baby when a 2000 lb walrus swims by 10 inches from her face. Click here for pics. 2 yrs ago we were doing this....

Two years have flown by, but the feelings of contentment and amazement just grow stronger and stronger. We are off to Seabrook for the weekend to play in the sand and and reminisce. We are truly, truly blessed! Not much has changed in the packing department :-)
