A mother's love.....

Today my thoughts and prayers go to a mother I will never have the privilege to meet. One year ago today Ava's birthmother made the most difficult and impossible decision any mother would ever make. She chose to give her daughter a life that she may never have otherwise known. I cannot pretend to know or understand what kind of courage and selfless love it took for Ava's birth mom to make the decision she did. I can only try, every day, to provide Ava with the love,laughter,joy, and opportunity that her birthmother wanted for her. My heart hurts for her today, knowing that, her heart must be aching that much more for the daughter she held only for a brief moment. I wish that I could tell Ava's birth mom how amazing and beautiful her daughter is and how genuinely honored we are to be a part of Ava's life. Ava's birthmother is truly brave. I pray she has found peace in her decision and is able to find comfort knowing that her sacrifice has provided Ava with the life she had hoped for. Today, with tears of gratitude, I honor her courage and selfless love.

You are truly honering Ava's birth mother by the job you are doing in raising Ava your daughter and sweet grandaughter of ours. We are honered to be her grandparents.

Today was Ava's first visit to the Zoo. She loved it! A lot of arm waiving and leg kicking. Not a ton of smiles, because she was probably overwhelmed. We could tell she really enjoyed it though, we can only imagine what goes through the mind of a ten month old baby when a 2000 lb walrus swims by 10 inches from her face. Click here for pics. 2 yrs ago we were doing this....

Two years have flown by, but the feelings of contentment and amazement just grow stronger and stronger. We are off to Seabrook for the weekend to play in the sand and and reminisce. We are truly, truly blessed! Not much has changed in the packing department :-)
