The Flight
"You expect me to go on that thing...for how long??"
This peaceful slumber did not last long.
"I was not paying attention when the flight attendant went over seat belt operation, can you help me please?"
Ava's stroller touches down on Kauai...finally!
It was quite a day. Ava did great at the airport...our plan was to walk her around as much as possible. She had a blast. Watching people emerge as if from nowhere on the escalator was fun. We got on the plane and as expected, Ava was upset that she lost a measure of her freedom. While we sat at the gate, Ava loudly declared to all other passengers that she was sitting in seat 20D...and she wanted everyone to know that we, her mean parents were restricting her movement. Ava's mood improved as the Boeing 737-800 (nerd alert) climbed through 500 ft going 198 mph. Ava konked out...we were pretty happy. They served us some mai-tais, and we settled in to watch a movie.
After a half hour, our worst fear became reality (kind of dramatic, I know), she woke up...and was ready to go. To make a long post short, the rest of the 5 1/2 hour flight was kind of rough....screaming, crying, frantically signing "all done", while looking at us wondering why in the world she had to sit there for so long...also with a good measure of giggling and having some fun, it wasn't all bad. The flight attendants were in love with her...one of them asked if she could hold her after a bout of crying...and Ava smiled at her as if she were her savior. She enjoyed the 5 minutes she spent with flight attendant Cherri. We watched her walk down the aisle, smiling and waving at people.
We finally arrived at 7pm...and Kauai welcomed us with a torrential downpour, while we waited for Chris and Tammie to pick us up. It's now about 11 am, sunny and beautiful....and we're inside waiting for Ava to wake up.
This is Eddie...the guy in front of us. We can't know for sure what he is thinking here. But, he does realize he chose the wrong seat...
