Gotcha Day...

A year ago today we held Ava knowing we would never have to give her back. Ava's beautiful foster mom, Gloria, had loved and raised Ava for her first 7months of life, and now it was our turn. That day was filled with anticipation, tears of joy and tears of sadness for the family that had cared for Ava. Ava's foster family is so wonderful and loving. We will forever be grateful for all that they gave her. I have used the word "surreal" many times this past year, but the moment I held my sweet daughter that day is the true definition of surreal. Since then the "surreal" moments have evolved into "real" moments. Ava's laughs, tears, snuggles and mini tantrums are all very real. All of these beautiful expressions of the real life with our daughter are perfect and more than I could have ever imagined. I am truly blessed and so grateful!

We celebrated our "gotcha day" in Seattle this weekend. We enjoyed the market, the space needle, the children's museum and some wonderful food. We embraced every moment as a family. It has been a surreal year, and we look forward to all of the "real" blessing's yet to come.

(I warned you that this week would be mushy...)
