New Dawn Children's Home...

We received good news today that Ava's former foster mother, (the lovely woman who took care of Ava for her 1st seven months) Gloria, is working at the Orphanage that is now up and running. Thanks to the hard work of the adoption agency (EACI) that we used when we adopted Ava. New Dawn Children's Home just received their first children this past week which is excellent news considering the many abandoned children in Guatemala that have no body to take care of them. We hope within the next year or so, we are able to go down there to visit the orphanage and see Gloria again. Click here for info and pictures We are still accepting donations (that goes directly to the orphanage ), using the First Giving link on the right. The government of Guatemala does not pay for, or subsidize orphanages, and unfortunately with international adoptions being halted right now down there, many babies are literally being left in boxes. It is so sad to think about....and we are so thankful everyday that we have Ava in our lives.

Today was Ava's first visit to the Zoo. She loved it! A lot of arm waiving and leg kicking. Not a ton of smiles, because she was probably overwhelmed. We could tell she really enjoyed it though, we can only imagine what goes through the mind of a ten month old baby when a 2000 lb walrus swims by 10 inches from her face. Click here for pics. 2 yrs ago we were doing this....

Two years have flown by, but the feelings of contentment and amazement just grow stronger and stronger. We are off to Seabrook for the weekend to play in the sand and and reminisce. We are truly, truly blessed! Not much has changed in the packing department :-)
