Another Guatamalan cutie....
has entered our lives! Her name is Lydia she is 3 years old and has a smile that will melt your heart. No Guatemala has not opened up for international adoption and no Jim and I have not decided to make our family 3 into a family of 4;-) What we have done, is sponsor this sweet little girl and her education. Through an organization called Mayan Families we have the opportunity to sponsor Lydia's eduction, changing not only her future, but that of her entire family. We are really excited to be a part of this program. We receive updates on her progress including photos and letters from her family. We have felt a strong connection to Guatemala for obvious reasons and since the New Dawn orphanage shut it's door a few months back, we have been looking for ways to be able to help in some small way. I am attaching our most recent update about Lydia and her family. The conditions that they live in is incomprehensible. It is impossible for me not to imagine that the challenges and hardships that they face on a daily basis could have been Ava's future. It breaks my heart to think of these sweet babies going to sleep cold and hungry with no guarantee that tomorrow will be any better. We wish could do so much more, but for now this is at least helping one amazing family to have a brighter future.
