Sweet Lydia...

Just a quick update on Lydia and her family. We have been sponsoring Lydia's education for a couple of months now and have been thrilled to receive updates and pics. We were able to donate enough money so that they were able to have a water filter and enough food to feed their family of four for 2-3months. They have no running water, so they have been getting it from their neighbor, but without anyway to boil or filter the water, they have been exposing themselves and their children to devastating parasites and other contaminates. The water filter was our first priority for them. Lydia is doing fantastic at school and is really thriving. It feels amazing to be part of this wonderful family and to be able to help them in some small way. A piece of our heart will always live in Guatemala and it really is a privilege to be part of such a great charity. Here are some pics we have received recently:

That is so wonderful. We have taken your lead and now we are sponsoring the Hogar (orphanage) where Cristel resides. It doesn't take much to make big changes in the lives of the Guatemalan people.

Today was Ava's first visit to the Zoo. She loved it! A lot of arm waiving and leg kicking. Not a ton of smiles, because she was probably overwhelmed. We could tell she really enjoyed it though, we can only imagine what goes through the mind of a ten month old baby when a 2000 lb walrus swims by 10 inches from her face. Click here for pics. 2 yrs ago we were doing this....

Two years have flown by, but the feelings of contentment and amazement just grow stronger and stronger. We are off to Seabrook for the weekend to play in the sand and and reminisce. We are truly, truly blessed! Not much has changed in the packing department :-)
