California

Wednesday was a long day. Our flight was supposed to leave at 2:30, so we got to the airport at 12:30...we ended up waiting a long time. Our flight was delayed for 2 hrs, so finally at 4:30 we took off for California. We did have a good time at the airport though watching planes, walking around and trying out two different restaurants during our stay in sea-tac. Ava was patient with Alaska Airlines and didn't disrupt any incoming air traffic with her screaming. The flight went surprisingly well, even after a 4hr delay. Ava did not sleep at all on the flight, but we got creative keeping her happy. Even the slightly drunk lady across the aisle enjoyed handing contents from her purse to Ava to entertain her.
We got to the OC airport and Ava was thrilled to see Mommy. The look on her face said it all.
Today while Mom was in class, Ava and I set out on an adventure. The weather was awesome, 68 deg. and sunny. We got a map from the concierge and decided to head to Balboa Island & Newport Beach...the xeroxed map was not a great one, and after about 4 miles into our concrete jungle hike I realized the map was no where near to scale, and if we continued, we would walk another 5 miles.(fortunately Ava napped for about 45 min of our excursion ) We finally ended up at the Newport Beach Marriott. They were suprised we started out way back in Irvine and planned to walk all the way to the beach. Tourists! After that, they supplied us with some water and a box of cookies for Ava, we finally got some help from Fernando the taxi driver.
Here are a few pictures from the day:

I'm glad the weather is nice, we're stuck at the bottom of the hill here and we can't even try out our new bikes.
We're glad Ava is so resilient. Sounds like Ava and Daddy had a nice day. Mommy probably had a hard time paying attention in class today.
