Dr. Weevah...
So our little sweetie has had some low grade fevers the past couple of weeks. We were primarily worried about her ears, but whatever virus she has been fighting, finally took over :-( She had a bit of a cough on Friday and by last night she had a full forced cold (yes, another). She woke up at least 4-5 times having coughing fits. They were so bad she was gagging. By this morning the cough got worse and she was wheezing like crazy! We went in to see her pediatrician this afternoon (thank goodness they have weekend hours). They immediately gave her a breathing treatment to help open up her airway. It seemed to help and her labored breathing slowed down a bit. They diagnosed her with bronchiolitis (an upper airway virus). We are now giving her treatments every 4-6hrs and treating her fever with Motrin. The breathing treatments are working like a charm! An added bonus is that the treatments are giving her a burst of energy that is putting her in a great, if not a completely, delirious mood. It breaks our heart to see her so sick! We will be on the watch to make sure the virus doesn't progress into something worse, which the Dr. told us is a possibility. Until this virus runs it's course we will enjoy the snuggle time and try not to dwell on the lack of sleep.
On a side note, during one of Ava's "up" moments, post breathing treatment, we dressed her up and she pretended to play Dr. She is fascinated by the stethoscope and says "bump bump" when she listens to our hearts (or pretty much anything else). So sweet! Here are some pics of our sweetie.....
