Long overdue post...
...I know, but life with a toddler has been quite an adventure lately. All amazing and wonderful things, of course, but busy for sure:-) Where to begin???
Cabo was amazing! The weather was stunning, the resort was luxurious and the company was so fun!! We stayed at an all inclusive resort, Dreams, and were pampered from the instant we got there. We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite. Jim might have used his multilingual skills, via email, to make this happen;-) The room was gorgeous and had a beautiful ocean view. Ava made a point of going out on our balcony each morning to announce "Good Morning Mexico!!". There were not many children at the resort, so you can imagine she was the center of attention every where we went. She walked around like a princess and was treated like one too:-) Tom and Kathleen joined us on the trip and we had so much fun! They helped so much with Ava. Jim and I were able to sneak away a couple of nights to enjoy some romantic dinners. They were really special and I was really grateful to have that precious alone time. That being said, it truly was a "family trip" . I knew the romantic idea of a 10th anniversary getaway was unlikely the moment I saw Ava making our "romantic rose petal turn down service" a trampoline with petal flying everywhere along with the towel swans. Oh well, that was when I decided to let go of the romance and enjoy our family time together and enjoy all of the precious memories we were making as a family. There were alot made that week, and I am so grateful:-)
The weekend after our return, project "Princess Potty Party Boot Camp" commenced. Tia Mo truly is the baby whisperer when it comes to potty training. In just 72 short hours( I say short because I was not there), our Miss Ava was officially potty trained!!! With just a few accidents and what I am sure was enough gummy worms to induce a sugar coma, Ava was potty trained and has not looked back;-) I told Melissa she missed her calling and should make this her new profession. A weekend away with Tia Mo and diapers are history! We are soo proud of Ava and eternally grateful to Tia Mo. That being said, I now just need to be able to walk past the diaper aisle at the store without breaking into tears. I only get to do the baby thing once, and am now having trouble with the fact that I now have a big girl and all the baby stuff is gone:-( I am finding that fact harder to come to terms with than I thought. Don't get me wrong, I am loving all of the amazing new things Ava is learning and accomplishing each day, but sometimes I find myself yearning for my little baby. It all happened so fast! She is an amazing little girl and I am so blessed to have her in my life each and every day. I just wish life would slow down a little so that I could enjoy each and every second.
While Ava was at Tia Mo's house, the basement project continued. Jim and his parents started the staining of the floor. They did such a great job! I got called into work first thing in the morning, so I was gone for most of it, but I was so grateful for all of their hard work. We are one step closer to having our house back, and I couldn't be more excited! I have started getting stuff together for Ava's playroom. Jim is planning a big "reveal" for Ava, complete with a bow on her door;-) The play kitchen and playhouse have been purchased and delivered, but we still have a long way before they can actually be put in her room. That being said, I am so thrilled with all of the progress and am super excited for it to all to be completed.
This last weekend we returned the favor to Tia Mo, and had Spencer and Audrey over for a couple of nights. We had so much fun! We played and watched movies on Friday. On Saturday Spencer treated us to his world famous scrambled eggs and the girls helped me with chocolate chip pancakes. So delish! We then went put- put golfing and bowling. It was so much fun! That evening , Spencer and I put on our chef hats and made Chinese soup and honey mustard chicken. He is becoming quite the little chef, I have to say. He chose the menu, helped me shop and then prepared a delicious meal. I can't believe how grown up he is getting! I had such a great time spending time with him and talking to him. I love hearing about things that really matter to him and hearing his ideas and opinions about life in general. He is a pretty great kid! Audrey and Ava were two peas in a pod for most of the weekend. They played, danced and giggled the entire weekend. I am so happy that Ava has cousins that she is so close to. I never had that growing up, but it is really cute to watch their friendships develop. So cute!!
So there you have it, our last couple of weeks in review. Sorry we haven't posted in a while. I really want to get better at posting. We having been uploading pics onto our picture site during our blog hiatus, so if you haven't seen them yet, head on over:-)
P.S. I was hoping that by changing the background to snowflakes, it would help promote a snowy winter. Ava has yet to have her first big snow:-( We were snowed out in LA two winters ago and we were in Cabo for the most recent snow storm. I soo want to make snowmen and hot chocolate with our princessa!:-)
